Vikarus "Blood Diamond II" NV

Blend of Gamaret / Diolinoir / Plant-Robert
A still red wine from the Lavaux region of Switzerland.

Jammy & spicy. Cherry & plum.

Tasting Notes

Vikarus Blood Diamond non-vintage has a deep ruby colour.

On the nose it’s very jammy with sour cherry, plum, black pepper and an herbaceous touch, tarragon I’d say.

On the mouth it’s warm and a touch spicy. It’s very well balanced, it’s not too full body nor too light.

The finish is pleasant and medium long.

Plant-Robert is a rare grape variety that almost became extinct in the 1960s. It is found in the Vaud canton of Switzerland and since 2007 an association of vignerons from the Lavaux region has started protecting it. With DNA tests we have discovered that Plant-Robert is in fact a biotype of Gamay. Unlike Gamay Plant-Robert produces wine with a distinctive, spicy note.
